Pretty Amazing Grace by Neil Diamond
Pretty amazing grace is what you showed me
Pretty amazing grace is what you are
I was an empty vessel
You filled me up inside
And with amazing grace
Restored my pride
Pretty amazing grace is how you saved me
And with amazing grace, reclaimed my heart
Love in the midst of chaos
Calm in the heart of war
Showed with amazing grace
What love is for
You forgave my insensitivity
And my attempt to let it mislead you
You stood beside a wretch like me
And Pretty amazing grace was all I needed.
Stumbled inside the doorway of your chapel
Humbled and awed by everything I found
Duty and love surround me
Freed me from what I fear
Ask for amazing grace
And you a appear
You overcame my loss of hope and faith
Gave me a truth I could believe in
You led me to a higher place
Showed me amazing grace
When grace was what I neeed
Look in a mirror I see your refection
Open a book you live on every page
I fall and you’re there to lift me
You share every road I climb
And with amazing grace
You ease my mind
I came to you with empty pockets first
When I returned I was a rich man
Didn’t believe love could quench my thirst
But with amazing grace, you showed me it can
In your amazing grace I had a vision
From that amazing place, I came to be
Into the night I wandered, wandering aimlessly
Found your amazing grace to comfort me
Pretty amazing…
Pretty amazing…
Pretty amazing…
Pretty amazing…
Pretty amazing…
Pretty amazing…
Pretty amazing…
Pretty amazing…
You overcame my loss of hope and faith
Gave me a truth I could believe in
You led me to that higher place
Showed me that love, truth, hope, grace
Were all I needed.

Daniel:
The Bible tells us that ALL men will hear the word of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Dear Katie:
Jesus tells us what "born again" means in John 3:3-"Unless a man be born again he cannot see the Kingdom of Heaven."
He clarifies this further in John 3:5:-"Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit he cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven."
In other words, we are first born in our mother's womb (of the water). When we accept Christ as our Saviour, we are born of His Spirit. He now dwells in us through the Holy Spirit.

Dear Betty:
You are correct. Although Jesus was God himself, he humbled himself to be a man among us and was conceived as a Jew-in the lineage of David, the tribe of Judah. The Bible says (not me) that all men can be saved through Jesus Christ only (once again, according to the Bible, not me)including Jews. Salvation is through Christ alone (according to the Bible). Jesus preached much more on Hell then he did on Heaven. This, and other statements I have made, can be easily confirmed by simply reading the Bible. Do not take my word for it. Judge the Bible yourself. But please do not make claims about the Bible and what it says until you give yourself a chance to read the Bible. It is your choice what you choose to believe once you have read the Words.

So many people on this blog claim that born-again Christians are "self-righteous". That is completely false.
Born again Christians know that we are COMPLETELY UNRIGHTEOUS. This is in complete agreement with the Bible which says in Romans 3:10: "There is NONE Righteous, NO NOT ONE." Again in Romans 3:23: "ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
Born-again Christians realize that only Jesus was righteous as stated in the Bible. He lived the perfect life that no human can live. He paid the perfect sacrifice and offered ALL people the GIFT of eternal life in heaven as quoted directly from the Bible in Romans 6:23: "The wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Born-again Christians realize we are sinners (unrighteous) and can only enter heaven through what Jesus did on the cross in agreement with the Bible. He offered us a FREE GIFT of heaven through HIS perfect righteous sacrifice.
Born-again Christians accept the righteousness of Christ, not ourselves, to enter heaven because we realize NO ONE can enter heaven through their own righteousness as stated numerous times throughout the Bible.
Jesus, not self-righteous Christians, said in John 14:6: 'I am the way, the truth and the life, NO ONE cometh unto the Father, but by ME." Jesus said he was the only way to heaven, not Christians. It is up to you to agree if the Bible is true or not. If you agree the Bible is true then Jesus is the only way to heaven.
Christians are only spreading the Words of the Bible (Jesus). We are commanded to do this throughout the New Testament. One example is in Mark 16:15: "Go ye unto all the world, preaching the Gospel (Good News) unto every creature. It is our job to provide you with the good news of Jesus' free gift of heaven. It is up to you whether you believe Jesus when he said he was the only way. You have to admit that free entry into heaven through Jesus is good news! ust like the thief on the cross all that you have to do is ask.
So many people think you have to earn your way into heaven. This is completely opposite to what the Bible teaches. Only through "Amazing Grace" do we enter heaven. Only through the Grace of God. This is in complete accord to the Bible and the teaching of Jesus. This is why he died on the cross-so that we could enter heaven THROUGH HIMSELF-NOT OURSELVES.
What a friend we have in Jesus. He died a horrible death, having lived a perfect life, so that you and I, unrighteous sinners deserving of Hell, could enter heaven through Him.

'Amazing Grace" is real love, no matter from whom it comes.

What a great album. Neil has finally got back to his roots. It doesn't mater what all the others think, Neil, just keep doin' what you're doin'. Pretty amazing grace is my favourite. But they're all good. Congratulations.

HELLO Jesus was Jewish does that mean that he is in hell as well. Never forget that thank you very much, without the Jewish religion there would be no Christianity.
Ps there is no hell its just a made up place for people to put those that do not agree with them.

....I have that emptiness deep inside and will to the day I die ...this world cannot fill my heart with what is missing...I am missing the completeness that only Christ can bring...look for me at the cross...I'll be standing in the back somewhere looking fulfilled...

So all of the fundemenatlists who love Neil's mucic, think he is going to hell because he is Jewish.
Nice.

The Bibole speaks of an eternal Kingdom right here on earth. What do the Fundies do with that?
Oh, and what about all the millions who lived and died on this earth who had never even heard of Jesus? Are they all going to burn in hell?
Man, is your Gosd cruel.

Read the Bible, John 3:16. There is only ONE Way into Heaven through accepting Jesus Christ as your Personal Savior. He died on the Cross to pay the price of Spiritual death for all peoples in the past and those to come.
It is a matter of Blind Faith and Trust between you, God, and Jesus. No relationship Spiritually with God, No Heaven.
No, Gray areas here. Yes or No that simple. God does not play games.

So if Neil does not become a Christian, is he going to hell?

The words do not have to mention Jesus at all. Take a listen to the words in some of Bob Dylan's song's (ie.) Solid Rock, Saved, and such. Then give an ear to Neil Diamond's words placed ever so carefully for those with ears to hear. I choose to beleive He has had a Spiritual Experience. It took him a long time but he made it. Praise God!!!

I guess what bugs me is this attitude many people claiming to be "born again" have. They act like those who disagree with them are unclean.

The joy of a song like Pretty Amazing Grace is that we can all take whatever we want from it. I bought the album last week and burst into tears on the first play of this particular track. Pretty Amazing Grace is my husband who mended my heart and made me realise "What love is for".

This song is so beautiful. It certainly has provoked debate! I guess Neil will go where he chooses, and what anyone else thinks won't matter. Until now, I was never a Neil Diamond fan, but he finally pulled me in! I'm in awe of him.

Great song. I sat up and took notice the first time I heard it. Neil was almost voicing my Christian journey experience down 29 years. I beg to differ with Daniel T 16th may. A christian song does not necessarily need to contain all the articles of faith to make it worship, otherwise you could chuck out a large percentage of all the hymns / worhip songs that have ever been written!

Fundementalists are soooo self righteous. It makes me cringe.

Well its good, but Ha Shem does not give us back our pride when we come to Him in repentance, He shows us how small we are and How magnificent He is - and shows us undeserved love and grace, our lives are no longer our own, but we live in the power of the Holy Spirit, so I hope Neil Diamond has found the real thing. God delights in a broken and contrite heart, then He lifts us up. Singing from the heart is God breathed for a believer, Romans 9, 10, 11

Well, one wonders what Neil himself would say about his faith and spiritually provocative songs? I've even seen the topic addressed on Tom Petty's message board. Here's the link if anyone's interested: http://tompetty.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1176042321/m/7661098842

I agree R. krusen, but I can't stand that self righteous "born again" dogma. From a Biblical standpoint, they don't really even know what being "born again" means.
